  • Most computers come equipped with decent sounding speaker. If not, make sure that you buy a good set.

  • Get a high-resolution color monitor and a good graphics card. You'll need them for colorful reports and graphics, and other visual displays.

  • Ensure that your computer has an ethernet card that will enable you to use hi-speed cable or DSL. Dial-up service may not be sufficient for your needs. But, with high-speed Internet service you'll get smooth, seamless video, realistic sound and, fast downloads and uploads.

  • For obvious reasons, a printer is essential for any business. Whether you need a color, or black & white printer is up to you, but the prices for printers are so reasonable that you want to get the best one you can afford.

  • If you don't have a fax machine, you can have faxing software installed on your computer.

To round out your computing needs, other equipment and software that you may consider are: Scanners, digital cameras, TV and video peripherals and software, music software, etc.

At first, only buy what you need, then add on as your requirements increase.
