Brainstorming
After you find an idea, think outside of
the box. Have a brainstorming session to generate other ideas
about how to make it work or how to make it different from
what has already been done.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
- Have a variety of people involved.
- Include people who are familiar with and know your product
or service (or one similar to it), and also include those
who don't know anything about it.
- Conduct the session(s) in an exciting and creative environment,
or make it exiting by your enthusiasm.
- Start by exhausting all initial ideas and listing them.
- Even bad ideas can lead to good ideas.
- Don't shoot down any ideas until after the session is
over.
- Use toys, gadgets, photographs, the web, games, visuals,
and other items to stimulate creative thoughts and ideas.
- Encourage outrageous thoughts and bizarre ideas. (Sometimes,
the more bizarre the better.)
You will find that by brainstorming ideas,
what you end up with is usually an altogether different animal
than the one you originally began with.
