Give Them Incentives
to Buy
Entice your customers to make purchases
PROMOTIONS
A
promotion is based on using incentives, such as sales, a price
discount, a buy one get one free purchase, and other offers,
to entice your customers, and to get your customers to act
positively toward your product or service.
Below are several examples of promotions
used today:
- Price discounts and sales
- Coupons
- On/in pack discounts
- Rebates
- Sweepstakes
- Samples
- Premium items sent or sold in packages
- Packaging
- Events
To put together promotions that work, you should put yourself
in the place of the customer. What would get you excited about
a product or service? Once you have a unique idea that you
believe will be of interest to your market, make it simple
to understand and provide good benefits and outcomes.
Watch Your Competition
It is important to watch the promotions your competition offers,
but be careful about always reacting with a similar promotion.
If your product is better than your competitior, and if you've
advertised this, then the customer may buy your product even
though the competition's is less expensive.
There's
no doubt that sales promotion has a place in your
marketing strategy. Just remember to
avoid
repetitious and boring promotions,
and keep them
to a minimum.
