What's In A Name
Naming
Your New Business
Deciding on a name for your new
business is very important. It 'brands' the new venture and
helps to grab the attention of potential customers.
Apply the following advice when selecting
a name for your business:
- Choose a new name that's easy to remember. A catchy name
that sticks in peoples minds.
- A good name should reflect what you do, your mission,
and what it's like (or would be like) to do business with
you.
- Try to pick a name that tells customers what product or
service your business offers.
- Chances are, your favorite name choices are already taken.
Carefully check trademarks, and unless you use your own
name, be sure to register the business name with with the
county clerk in your city.
- Avoid Acronyms unless they actually spell something familiar.
Letters are hard to remember.
Remember, what you name
your business can determine how much your customers will notice
you.

Fictitious-Name-Statement
|
| When
a business goes by any name other than the owner's full
real name, it is being known as an assumed name or DBA,
which stands for "doing business as." People
doing business under assumed names are required to file
a fictitious-name-statement with the county. |
